Abstract:

CREATE-X is a Georgia Tech initiative to instill entrepreneurial confidence in students and empower them to launch real startups. The broader goal of this initiative is to provide the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences that will give graduates the confidence to create their own future and confidently pursue entrepreneurial opportunities. CREATE-X consists of the programmatic elements of LEARN-MAKE-LAUNCH. This webinar will include several inter-related presentations. Firstly, a brief synopsis of the CREATE-X program will be provided. The speakers will describe how three Geosystems Engineering PhD students took their initial idea from concept to reality. A brief overview of the FILIO application will be described including an overview of the mobile and web apps they developed. In addition to describing the various elements that they learned about developing a product and starting a company, they will describe how that have now moved from developing an initial business plan to actively marketing their software to prospective clients and securing their first project.
