Dear CBBG Members,
On Friday night, we received a notice that, until further notice, all nonessential ASU travel will not be approved, including prior approved travel. Conferences and professional meetings must consider alternative mechanisms to participate (such as online meetings). Given this notice, the CBBG April “in-person” mid-year meeting will be canceled and instead we will hold an online meeting via zoom from our respective locations on Monday, April 7. More information about the online meeting will be sent out as it becomes available, but for now simply please hold open the days on which the CBBG mid-year meeting is scheduled– Monday (April 6th) and Tuesday (April 7th) – until we set the agenda for the online meeting.
For your airline flights, please do confirm with your airline that your cancellation fees will be waived before cancelling your flight. For instance, American Airline will waive cancellation feels (see their website: https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/travel-alerts.jsp) if you meet certain criteria. Please do review the criteria before cancelling. And as you may know, Southwest Airlines never charges feels for canceling flights (https://www.southwest.com/Coronavirus/). If you do not meet the airline’s criteria for a refund or credit of your entire airfare without penalty, please wait to cancel your flight until either the airline changes its policy (which is very likely) or one week before the meeting. If however cancellation fees are unavoidable, then CBBG will reimburse you for any costs that you incurred.
If you have any questions or are unsure, then do not hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you for your cooperation in this difficult time.
